„Study on the need for and access to health promotion for seniors“, No. S-214
Project No. S-214
Project title: „Study on the need for and access to health promotion for seniors ”.
Project duration: from 2018-10-31 to 2020-11-26.
Project manager: prof. dr. Vida Gudžinskienė.
Summary: The aim of the research project is to determine the need for and availability of health promotion services for seniors (65+). The target group of the study is seniors aged 65 years and over. There are two groups of participants: seniors from 65 to 74 and seniors from 75 and over. A mixed research strategy was chosen to conduct the study, combining quantitative and qualitative research approaches, thus ensuring a comprehensive approach to data collection. The first phase will be a broad survey to generalise the results to the population of seniors, while the second phase will focus on the experiences of the subjects. The quantitative study involved seniors from two Lithuanian counties. It is planned to conduct at least 4 group interviews (focus groups) with seniors in the two counties, but the total number of interviews may be higher according to the principle of “saturation”. The project will use the methodology of the seven health promotion sub-areas to explore the health promotion needs of seniors, as well as the availability of health promotion services for seniors in terms of informational, organisational and economic aspects, and to identify the links between the demand for and the supply of health promotion services.
The project was implemented by the Ministry of Health and funded by the Public Health Promotion Fund 2018.
