„Psychological mechanisms of environmental citizenship education (ENVICI)“, Nr. S-MIP-21-60
Project No. S-MIP-21-60
Project title: „Psychological mechanisms of environmental citizenship education (ENVICI)”.
Project duration: from 2021-09-01 to 2024-08-31
Project manager: dr. Mykolas Simas Poškus
Summary: Environmental citizenship is one of the key ways to tackle climate change. By creating citizens today who care about the environment, we ensure that future generations will have the knowledge and motivation to tackle climate change. Unfortunately, there is still no unified set of guidelines and evidence-based tools to achieve this goal, and this lack is felt both at national and European level. Existing theoretical models of environmental citizenship lack support from follow-up and intervention studies. Therefore, in the context of this project, a follow-up intervention study will be carried out to investigate the mechanism of formation of environmental citizenship; the intervention will be based on the development and use of evidence-based educational materials, which will eventually be structured into an open-access methodological publication for Lithuanian educational institutions.
