Project No. 09.3.3-LMT-K-712-01-0104
Project title:Lithuanian national assessment and mapping of ecosystem services (LINESAM)”.
Project duration: from 2017-12-27 to 2021-12-26.
Project manager: prof. dr. Paulo Alexandre da Silva Pereira.

Summary: The aim of the project is to develop a national ecosystem services (ES) valuation and mapping framework, to better understand the relationships between ecosystems, biodiversity and human well-being in Lithuania, and to identify the socio-economic drivers of change that are driving the supply of ES. The project has 5 activities (WPs): 1) development of a conceptual framework for the analysis of the types of EP classes and the socio-economic drivers of change that drive them; 2) development of a model for involving stakeholders, from a range of disciplines and sectors, in the analysis of EP valuation and drivers of change, and for capacity building of these stakeholders; (3) national assessment and mapping of EPs according to CICES class types and analysis of drivers of change related to EPs; (4) case study level analysis of EPs through the implementation of site-specific geospatial models; and (5) design and implementation of a Geoportal for visualization and sharing of the generated geospatial works.

Result to be achieved: The results of the LINESAM Project will increase the knowledge and application of EP indicators in the public and private sectors, identify barriers for stakeholders in the use of the EP approach, and ensure a unified and harmonised approach to data sharing and stakeholder engagement.

The project is funded by the European Social Fund under Measure No. 09.3.3-LMT-K-712 “Development of scientific competence of scientists, other researchers, students through practical scientific activities” activity “Improvement of the qualification of researchers in the implementation of high-level R&D projects”.
