Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) is named after the patriarch of Lithuania‘s Constitutional Law Professor Mykolas Romeris (1880-1945).

MRU – the largest social sciences specialized university in Lithuania, whose most prominent studies and research areas are: law, public security and public administration.

The University has capable and significant core educational science, economics, humanities, communication, politics, psychology, sociology, and management areas.

Social science studies programmes dominate the MRU studies programme portfolio (95% of all studies portfolio – AIKOS database).

There are about 7,500 students and auditors studying at the University.

MRU implements meaningful international and national studies and research projects (on average about 50 projects per year).

The European Commission funded international study, “Creating a Culture of Social Innovation in Higher Education” found that MRU is the best university to develop social innovation among several hundred universities in Central and Eastern Europe.

MRU was the first in Lithuania to begin to implement joint studies programmes with France‘s, Austria‘s and Finland‘s universities and developed strong research partnership ties with South Korean and other universities in the Asian region.

South Korea, Japan, China and India were and continue to remain the main University cooperation partner countries in the Asian region. Dongseo (South Korea), Josai (Japan), Huazhong University of Science and Technology (China) are only some of the many active university partners in the Asian region.

There are 21 MRU studies programmes implemented in English (10-in the first cycle of studies, 17 – in second cycle. Of this, 9 are joint, 6 – validated or double diplomas as well as 6 national, taught in English).

RESEARCH

Mykolas Romeris University successfully implements one of its most important missions – to foster a culture of scientific research and innovation.

Mykolas Romeris University scientists and researchers carry out disciplinary and interdisciplinary fundamental and applied research in the social sciences and humanities. Each year about 600 research papers are published, about 50 research projects are implemented, about 50 contract-based services are undertaken, doctoral studies in 6 fields of science are implemented, research-based expert services are provided and solutions for responsible institutions and the public offered.

In 2015, the Mykolas Romeris University unit – Social Innovations Laboratory Network MRU LAB was opened.

At the MRU LAB, interdisciplinary laboratories operate whose mission is to adapt the latest social, humanitarian, technological research and achievements to the needs of society and business. There are about 600 scientists and researchers employed at the laboratories.

The MRU LAB is equipped with public spaces with mobile workplaces, two auditoriums (80 and 30 seats) having all the necessary equipment for seminars, meetings and conferences.

The University Library is equivalent to the most modern academic libraries in Europe.

The University pursues an active policy of open access and a well-developed IT network and infrastructure. According to “Rotten WiFi,“ in terms of the quality of wireless Internet connection, Mykolas Romeris University was declared the second best university in the world.
