April 22nd, Earth Day, is commemorated to raise interest about planet earth and inform about the need to protect the earth and the planet's natural resources. This year Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) marked the day with an Earth Day photo contest, "What Does Mother Earth Mean to You?"

Every year since 1970, billions of people celebrate Earth Day to take action for a more green planet.

Photos, submitted by MRU students, captured the beauty of Mother Earth in Lithuania. As one of the participants noted, "Nature will always prevail, even in cities."

Winners of the contest were: Ugnė Jankovska, Valeriia Kushnirova, and Eitvydas Zurba.

The photo contest was coordinated by MRU Environmental Management LAB junior researcher Yuliana Shuhani.
