VUAS Reps Visit; Seeds of New Didlaukis Academic Village Planted

Nov. 5th, 2015, Vilnius University of Applied Sciences (Vilnius Kolegija) academics and staff packed the new MRU LAB building in what is the first of meetings seeking to form the Didlaukis academic village community and to get better acquainted.

Both institutions of higher education, located in the Didlaukis section of Vilnius, are forging closer ties of cooperation.

Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Vice-Rector Inga Žalėnienė welcomed the Vilnius Univ of Applied Sciences (VUAS) academics, lecturers and staff, many who were visiting the nearby MRU LAB for the first time.

"We are located on the same territory. There's the possibility to use each other's infrastructure, especially the Library," said the Vice-Rector.

MRU Deputy Vice-Rector, Marketing Office Head Šarūnas Sakalauskas discussed branding, the formation of the Didlauskis academic village.

He said that it's possible that prices of apartments and housing near MRU, in the Didlaukis section of Vilnius, will rise in the future.

In addition Sakalauskas mentioned the importance of social media and being Internet savvy in order to use the mediums that students and youth use to communicate.

VUAS representatives had the opportunity to tour the MRU LAB facilities, meet laboratory heads, visit the Labs and speak with researchers.
