June 26th-30th, 2023, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Law School joined in and actively participated in the 14th Transparency International (TI) School on Integrity Summer School held at the Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis National School of Arts. There were 110 youth leaders, experts and academics from almost 50 countries taking part in the Anti-Corruption School, "In Times of Turmoil: Redesigning the Anti-Corruption Roadmap."
MRU Law School Vice-Dean for International Relations and Studies Prof. Lina Mikalonienė addressed the youth leaders and experts at the opening of the Summer School.
The Law School Vice-Dean told participants that the complex events of recent years should not allow us to forget the phenomenon of corruption: "Corruption threatens democracy and human rights, undermines public trust in institutions and harms the rule of law, and hinders the achievement of sustainable development goals. Knowing how to fight corruption, the ability to effectively apply anti-corruption tools, and at the same time fight it, is what society needs," she said.
The School of Transparency contributes to deepening and expanding the participants' understanding of the methods and methods of fighting corruption, using the application of anti-corruption tools in practice.
"Transparency International" is a public policy organization that has been operating for more than 20 years, with the aim of increasing transparency and reducing corruption in Lithuania. The TI Summer School, which is the largest event of its kind, is held annually in Vilnius and has already "graduated" more than 1,700 alumni since its establishment.
This year experts from 15 different countries have made presentations or presented lectures at the School from: Brazil, China, Columbia, Germany, Poland, Mexico, Nigeria, the Netherlands, South Africa, Sakartvelo, Taiwan, Ukraine, Venezuela, the U.S. and United Kingdom.
The TI School on Integrity is organized by the Lithuanian chapter of "Transparency International" in conjunction with Mykolas Romeris University.
