“Study Portals” -International Students Give MRU Great Evaluation

The international education portal, „StudyPortals“ has recognized Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) for its professional, lecturers, modern IT network and infrastructure and awarded MRU an International Student Satisfaction Award. MRU was recognized on the basis of evaluations by its international student body, which numbers about 500 students today. „StudyPortals“ has awarded the Awards for the 4th time. They are awarded to European institutions of higher education based on evaluations of international students. This year there were 19 educational institutions mentioned in Lithuania, but only two were given awards. MRU was one of the universities recognized. The Eindhoven based „StudyPortals“ unit collects information about European universities, studies and educational programmes and the possibilities for international students to study there. According to information in the database of this portal, the information helps youth make a decision where to study. According to „StudyPortals“ director Edwin van Rest, today's students are demanding in their choices of where to study. The opinion of other students is one of the main factors influencing their decision. Students are looking not only for academic quality, but also great administrative services and infrastructure and an international community within the higher educational institution, he noted. The International Student Satisfaction Awards have been awarded since 2013. During the last 4 years more than 170,000 students have participated. This year there was a record number taking part - almost 16,000. Students evaluated the institutions of higher education according to a 10-point scale. Institutions that were evaluated at least with an 8 could receive awards. University studies' quality, academics, infrastructure and administrative personnel were all evaluated by students. Students also evaluated the country where they studied and extracurricular activities. This year the top 5 countries included Norway (average of 9,2); Ireland (9,19), Poland (9,09); Finland (9,07) and the United Kingdom (9,05). Regarding studies in Lithuania there were almost 200 students that expressed their opinion. MRU was one of two institutions which were recognized in Lithuania and MRU received an 'Excellent' evaluation. Vilnius University (VU) was recognized as 'Very Good.' MRU has about 500 international students from countries as varied as the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Slovakia, Spain, Georgia, Ukraine as well as many others.
