March 3rd, 2016, a group of 2nd year Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Public Administration students visited the European Commission's Office in Lithuania, "Europos Namai" to become acquainted with the work of European Union (EU) institutions.
European Commission Representation in Lithuania Policy Analysis and Review Unit Manager Laimutė Pilukaitė and Tomas Bekišas presented the work of EU institutions and their areas of responsibility to students.
MRU students learned about Lithuania's entry into the EU, benefits of EU membership and how various institutions in the EU are connected to one another.
Students also found out about coordination of EU matters in Lithuania and how submitted proposals are considered and the order of affairs.
Representatives told students that some proposals are under consideration for a number of years such as the 2013 proposal for the railway system, which is under consideration up to now.
All EU matter coordination processes in Lithuania are implemented by way of Lithuania's EU Information System, LINESIS, accessible only to employees.
At the end there was a short discussion and students asked questions.
