April 4th, 2016, students in the Frontex European Joint Masters in Strategic Border Management began lectures that will be held at Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) all week.
MRU Vice-Rector for Education Assoc. Prof. Giedrius Viliūnas addressed students.
Bulgaria's Ministry of the Interior Academy Prof. Stavri Ferdov discussed "Risk and Threat Management for European Border Security" on the first day of lectures.
MRU is one of the universities implementing the programme funded by the European Commission and coordinated by Frontex, the European agency responsible for external EU border control.
The 26 students of the Joint Master's programme come from various agencies safeguarding borders in EU countries.
This unique programme is only open to employees of border control agencies in EU countries.
Students began studies in the programme in the fall of 2015.
Aside from MRU, universities in Spain, the Netherlands, Latvia are participating.
MRU Faculty of Public Security Vice-Dean Prof. Vaiva Zuzevičiūtė said the programme is targeted at increasing the competencies of border guards in the EU.
