Sakartvelo native Soso Darchia had just completed an internship in the court at Batumi, when he arrived at Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) at the end of January to work as an Erasmus+ trainee on EU projects at MRU's Justice LAB.

I will be working on the project, "Enhancing Proficiency of Insolvency Practicioners," said the 21-year-old intern working at the LAB headed by his mentor and LAB Prof. Dr. Salvija Mulevičienė.

"It is exciting to be here at MRU because it is a great opportunity to improve my professional skills, to face new challenges and to try myself in different areas. It's a great thing to work on an European Union project," said Soso.

"It's a great responsibility to work with professionals, like my mentor Prof. Dr. Salvija Mulevičienė, and other partners of the project. It's also great to become more closely acquainted with European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) decisions. For a future lawyer it is a great opportunity to gain practical knowledge and professional skills that I will be able to use in the future."

Darchia, a Law student at Sakartvelo's Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, will complete his Bachelor's Degree in June. He decided to use his time during a vacation break in Sakartvelo, to complete a 2 1/2 month traineeship at MRU's Justice LAB.

After completing his law studies, he plans to take the Bar Exam.

"Since the age of 9, my dream was to one day become a judge in a court in Sakartvelo.

Before coming to MRU, my friends told me that Vilnius is a beautiful city with lots of great opportunities for international students. One of my friends had come to MRU as an Erasmus student last year and enjoyed the experience. She encouraged me to go to Vilnius.

In the future Darchia hopes to pursue Master's Degree Law studies.

"When I first arrived at MRU and first met my mentor, we discussed some interesting tasks relating to my traineeship. She told me about upcoming conferences and activities relating to EU projects. I felt immediately the motivating spirit of MRU," he said.

"Personally, this is a great challenge to work on insolvency law issues because this is a new sphere of Law and it's developing day by day.

"MRU gives me the possibility to work in a professional environment - searching and using resources within the University and also to meet the professional lawyers that lecture here. That is a big motivation for a law student."

Darchia will return to Batumi in mid-April, after his traineeship at the Justice LAB ends.
