Sixth Annual Dr. Lamers NATO Hearings at MRU – May 16th

Tuesday, May 16th, 11.00, in MRU's I-414 aud., the sixth annual Dr. Lamers NATO Hearings, "Vilnius NATO Summit: What Can We Hope For?" will take place at Mykolas Romeris University (MRU).

Discussion will be conducted in English and take place at the central MRU campus (Ateities St. 20, Room I-414, Vilnius).

The keynote speaker of the discussion traditionally is Prof. h. c. Dr. Karl A. Lamers, a former long-time member of the Defence Committee of the Bundestag and former President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, a renowned German lawmaker with decades of high-level experience in transatlantic security issues.

The panel of commentators will include:

  • Žygimantas Pavilonis, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Lithuanian Seimas, former Lithuanian Ambassador to the United States of America, closely involved in shaping today’s Lithuanian foreign affairs strategy and policies, commanding a vast knowledge in transatlantic relations and regional security.
  • Gediminas Kirkilas, Former Lithuanian Prime Minister, former Defence Minister, veteran politician with many years of experience in international affairs and defence policy, now involved in mediating non-partisan agreement on Lithuania’s policy on Ukraine.
  • Linas Linkevičius, Ambassador at Large at the Lithuanian Foreign Affairs Ministry, former Lithuanian Defence Minister and former Foreign Affairs minister, former Lithuanian Ambassador to NATO, who has an intimate knowledge of NATO workings accumulated through the decades of involvement in security issues.
  • Prof. Dr. Margarita Šešelgytė, Director the Institute of International Relations and Political Science at Vilnius University, renowned Lithuanian political scientist and commentator on international relations and security, who previously was teaching at the Baltic Defence College in Tartu, Estonia, as well as at the Lithuanian War Academy in Vilnius.

The audience of the event usually includes foreign ambassadors or representatives of the embassies, MRU faculty and students.
