The Senate of Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) has decided to bestow the tile of Honorary Professor on France's Université Savoie Mont Blanc (USMB) Chambéry President Prof. Philippe Galez and the title of Honorary Member on Prof. Eric Brunat.
The title of MRU Honorary Professor title will be bestowed on USMB President Galez for his progress in higher education academic exchanges and development of research and successful long-term cooperation with MRU.
The title of Honorary Member will be bestowed on USMB Prof. Brunat for his long-time management of the joint MRU and USMB European and International Business Law Master's Degree studies programme and exceptional fostering of cooperation between the institutions.
MRU's cooperation with France's USMB has been continuing for 20 years. It began with individual academic contracts and joint conference organization in the area of consumer rights. Then, it grew to the creation of a joint Master's Degree programme, "European and International Business Law" (EIBL).
The then USMB Law and Economics Faculty Vice-Dean (later Dean) Sébastien Pimont was instrumental in establishing the joint programme 2012-2013. A professor from the Law and Economics Faculty Gilles Paisant, responsible for international relations, and the Faculty's Assoc. Prof. Florent Viaud, responsible for USMB Master's Degree programme Droit des affaires were also key. During the last 8 years, the EIBL coordinator from France's USMB is Prof. Brunat. He has heartily and fully contributed towards the development of the programme.
The EIBL programme was registered in 2013. That same year, the first students begin studies in the programme. This programme has been continously operating for the last 10 years. During this time, 130 students from 12 countries graduates from the programme (mostly from Lithuania, Ukraine and France). Students conductd internships in 25 countries.
