SELL GAMES: Law Student Jokūbas Stasiulis Won Gold Medal
May 17th-20th, 2018, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Law Faculty student Jokūbas Stasiulis, participating in the SELL Student Games in Tartu, Estonia, won a gold medal in power lifting in his weight category. There were 10 students from MRU participating in the Games including 2 judo reps, 3 chess players and 3 power lifters. A total of 1150 athletes from 49 universities took part in the Games. In the Disc Throw category, MRU Management studies PhD student Šarūnas Banevičius finished second. Law Faculty student Mangirdas Gumuliauskas, coached by P. Lazdauskas, won third place in power lifting in his weight category. The international sports competition, SELL Games, dates back to 1923, when the first International Regional Student Sports Competitions were organized in Tartu and which later became known as SELL Games. SELL Tartu Student games are for students, who inspire co-students for sports purposes, in addition to studies. The purpose of the SELL Games is to promote student sports. They are for amateur, competitive or professional athletes. This year students competed in 12 different disciplines: Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Chess, Floorball, Judo, Mini-football, Powerlifting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Volleyball and Wrestling.
