Nov. 8th, 2018, Education and Science Minister Jurgita Petrauskienė presented to the Seimas the Government's proposal to begin the reorganisation of Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) and uniting it to Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU).

The Government has proposed that the universities present their reorganisation plans including conditions of reorganisation and the Statute project. The Seimas must approve the proposal.

Minister Petrauskienė said consolidation of higher education resources is very important in seeking to ensure the quality of studies and research. This includes competitiveness and providing challenging studies in the contemporary world for students. In addition, appropriate work conditions for lecturers and researchers are to be provided and innovative research results for the government, she noted.
