Dec. 4th, 2018, Lithuania's Seimas approved reorganisation of Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) uniting it with the Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU).
MRU Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Algirdas Monkevičius said that activities to implement the unique University vision are underway, but there are challenges ahead.
"University reorganisation plans, conditions and Statute projects must be presented by Feb. 15th, 2019 to the Government, so there is not much time. It is nice that the processes are moving forward and we hope for a positive result," Rector Monkevičius said.
Creating a unique technology university in Lithuania with a strong social sciences nucleus, we can appropriately use the academic breakthrough and creation of innovations, expanding future technologies and society safety research areas, noted Rector Monkevičius.
According to the prepared 2018-2021 universities reorganisation plan, it is foreseen to unite studies programmes that overlap. Unique studies programmes, implemented by both universities, would be strengthened.
