Today, the seminar of the Francophone University Agency (AUF) has started at Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) to discuss science and sports diplomacy and other relevant topics. The seminar is attended by representatives of AUF units, ambassadors of France, Canada, Armenia, Georgia and Romania. The event will last two days.
Addressing the Francophone partners, the Rector, Prof. Dr. I. Žalėnienė, noted that science and diplomacy have a huge potential for synergy. Scientific insights and evidence support decision-making across foreign and security policies, as well as environmental, health, and other sectors.
„The objectives of the Francophonie resonate with the mission of the University. Collaborating with esteemed partners of the Francophonie allows us to promote cultural and linguistic diversity, peace, democracy, human rights, and drive advancements in higher education and research to meet the aspirations of our students, communities, and societies“, - said prof. dr. I. Žalėnienė.
Rector was pleased that French universities are one of MRU's long-standing and most valued partners. Currently, there are 26 Erasmus exchange agreements and 3 bilateral cooperation agreements with French universities. Cooperation is also being developed through joint or double diploma programmes. Currently, 18 exchange students and 21 French degree-seekers are studying in MRU's Master's and PhD programmes. This year, the University joined the European University Initiative and was recognized as a full partner of the ERUA Alliance (European Reform University Alliance), coordinated by the University of Paris 8.
