Regarding Organization of Studies & Work (updated March 19th)

In accordance with the Statute of Mykolas Romeris University and taking into account recommendations of the World Health Organization, the Government of the Republic of Lithuania’s Feb. 26th, 2020 Decree “Regarding Announcement of a Governmental Level State Emergency,” the Lithuanian Government’s approved decision at the March 12th, 2020 meeting regarding the situation regarding the new coronavirus (COVID-19), Lithuania’s Education, Science and Sports Minister’s March 13th, 2020 Decree, “Regarding the Coronavirus” and seeking to safeguard the health of the University community, Rector Inga Žalėnienė March 13th signed a Decree “Regarding the Organization of the Studies and Work Process at Mykolas Romeris University During the Emergency Dealing with the New Coronavirus (COVID-19).” According to this Decree, from March 13th to March 30th, 2020, the studies and work process at Mykolas Romeris University is organized remotely. If there is a need, the deadline may be extended. • Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Regina Valutytė and Deputy Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saulius Spurga, according to their delegated areas, must undertake necessary measures to ensure that the studies and work process at the University can be conducted remotely. • Academic Department Heads, Centre and other unit heads must ensure that all functions would be undertaken properly. During the entire period of working remotely, contact with employees and staff working remotely should be undertaken by e-mail or other electronic means. • During this period, all cultural, academic and sports events at the University are postponed. • This signed Decree stipulates the organization of work, which is not applicable to some Service Unit employees, which will be ensuring the continuation of important activities including safeguarding of property and ensuring safe, hygienic conditions at the University. “We understand that a smooth and a qualitative remote studies process is a huge challenge, but the first full work days working remotely (Friday and Saturday) indicated that it is possible,” said MRU Rector Prof. Dr. Inga Žalėnienė. “We are confronting an extraordinary situation, numerous questions arise, technical difficulties, but they are resolved calmly, constructively and that is gratifying. It is a source of great satisfaction that we have a professional team at the University. The Long Distance Studies Coordinating and Organizing Team is operating. It is headed by Vice-Rector Regina Valutytė and assisted by Deputy Rector Assoc. Prof, Saulius Spurga. This group includes Digital Studies, the Academic Affairs Centre, IT Centre, the Library, the International Office, the Communication and Marketing Center and academic unit representatives, which will aid, provide training for lecturers, help and communicaton for academic departments.
