June 29th, 2015, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Rector Assoc. Prof. Algirdas Monkevičius and Korea's Dongseo University (DSU) President Dr. Jekuk Chang signed an agreement paving the way for establishing a new joint Master's programme, "Informatics and Visual Contents."
During the signing ceremony, MRU Rector Monkevičius thanked partners. He said implementation of the new programme will be useful not only for students, but also for both universities.
Dongseo University President Chang was also positive about the new agreement, which paves the way for setting up the programme.
President Chang mentioned the beginning of construction of a new building on his campus, for use by international students, including those from MRU. He said the new building will be very modern and completed by April 2016.
The new programme, which will take two years (4 semesters), is expected to begin accepting students from the fall of 2016. It will be taught in English.
The first year, Master's Degree students will study at Mykolas Romeris University. The second year of studies (3rd and 4th semester) they will travel to Dongseo University in Busan, South Korea.
From 2014, MRU has been implmenting a joint Bachelor's Degree programme with DSU called, "Informatics and Digital Contents."
DSU President Chang led the Korean delegation, which also included: DSU International Cooperation Office Dean Dr. Chan Chung and DSU Future Strategy Office Head Dr. Kyongho Hahn.
Also visiting MRU were King Sejong Institute Foundation representatives: KSI Researcher Prof. Dongeun Lee and KSI Team Manager JungSunJi.
The new Master's Degree programme is set to prepare informatics specialists in the areas of visual effects, gaming, digital animation and other digital production areas.
