On the 21st  November at a ceremony organized by the Human Rights Committee of the Lithuanian Parliament (Seimas) together with the Office of the Equal Opportunities Ombudsperson to mark the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the Law on Equal Opportunities, prof. dr. Inga Žalėnienė, Rector of the Mykolas Romeris University (MRU), prof. Toma Birmontienė, professor at the MRU School of Law, prof. Danutė Jočienė, Professor at the MRU Law School, and prof. Edita Žiobiene were presented with a Certificate of Recognition for their important and historically significant contributions to the consolidation of equal opportunities in the society of Lithuania. Both the University and the academic community were recognized for their significant contribution to the implementation of equal opportunities in Lithuania over the last 20 years.

During the event, discussions took place, sharing memories of what went on behind the scenes of the adoption of the law in 2003, discussing what has been achieved in the field of equal opportunities over the last two decades and what to expect in the future.
