Tuesday, Feb. 28th, 2023, a group of pupils from Denmark, Sweden and the Faroe Islands were at MRU with their teachers to meet with Ukrainian pupils from the Gravitas Schola, who use MRU facilities.

The students, brought together at the behest of a Nordplus project, were tackling the topics of immigration and emigration, according to Vilnius Simono Daukanto teacher Jurgita Staliulionienė. She accompanied 24 of her pupils to meet with the international crowd of pupils.

Mikkel Svanks from Denmark and fellow pupil Paulsen Steintora from Klaksvik in the Faroe Islands said it was their first time in the Baltics and they were excited to meet pupils from Ukraine.

They also had time to acquaint themselves with MRU's Vilnius campus and the city of Vilnius.

"We were surprised that so few young people work here. They don't have a job. I work in a supermarket several times a week," said Mikkel. He explained that he was surprised that so many Vilnius residents live in apartments. We live in houses in Denmark, he added.

Faroe Islands native Paulsen Steintora said she lives close to the Sea, which is only a 2-minute walk from her home. We have a lot of mountains, she added.

The pupils from Denmark, Sweden and the Faroe Islands will be in Vilnius until Friday, March 3rd. They flew into Vilnius via Copenhagen on Sunday, Feb. 26th.
