The Ambassador of Poland Konstanty Radziwill visited Mykolas Romeris University (MRU). During the meeting with the Rector, Prof. Dr. Inga Žalėniene, MRU cooperation with Polish higher education institutions, joint study programmes with Polish universities, European research projects and future initiatives were discussed.
The Rector, Prof. Inga Žalėnienė, welcomed the signing of the University Declaration in Lublin this spring and the establishment of the Three Seas Universities Network (3SUN), which will significantly contribute to the development of international cooperation between universities, the increase in exchanges and the development of research.
On 16 June the Universities Declaration was signed in Lublin and the Three Seas Universities Network was established. Thirteen universities from ten countries, including two Ukrainian universities, signed the Declaration.
“The network of the Three Seas Universities will open up a wide range of opportunities for universities to make an important contribution to the challenges facing science and the region," said the Rector, noting that in today's geopolitical context, universities in Central Europe have a great deal of potential and experience in delivering major projects.
Ambassador Konstanty Radziwill noted that the "Three Seas Initiative" is a priority area of interest for Polish President Andrzej Duda, and that Poland and Lithuania play a locomotive role in this initiative. His Excellency invited MRU to participate in joint initiatives with the Polish Embassy in the context of the Three Seas University Network.
During the meeting, the Rector also shared her plans for the development of the University in order to make it more modern, international and sustainable.
Polish universities are MRU's oldest and very important partner institutions. Eight bilateral cooperation agreements and forty Erasmus+ inter-institutional agreements have been concluded with Polish universities.
In the autumn semester of 2023/2024, 1 student is coming from Poland (Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań) for Erasmus+ mobility. Currently, there are 6 degree-seeking Polish students (3 Bachelors, 1 Masters and 2 PhD students) at MRU.
