March 19th, 2019, artist Aleksandra Stankevič opened her art exhibit, "When Dreams Come True" at Mykolas Romeris University (MRU). The exhibit will be on display in the 2nd floor foyer near II-232 and on the 3rd floor also.
Stankevič, 32, is a disabled woman who is also an orphan. She has no family and from her youth has lived in the Children's and Youth Home in Vilnius.
Currently she is living in the Valakampių Social Support Facility. From 2008 she is a participant in the "Mes esame" Day Centre, where she takes part in various activities.
Stankevič enjoys painting and it is her biggest passion. Her colourful works of art have captured the attention of lovers of art.
Her first series of paintings, "Dreams of Aleksandra," were exhibited in 6 Vilnius institutions. Her current exhibition, "When Dreams Come True" is an allusion to her dreams, which she wanted to capture and explore in the setting of a painting.
Stankevič's paintings are full of colour, which emerge from her inner feelings and are dependent on her spiritual and emotional experiences. The colours, evident in the paintings, are a reflection of her life and form a playful whole, which every spectator can interpret individually.
