Cybersecurity threats are becoming more and more frequent in today's world, and the knowledge and technical skills to manage and regulate them in the industrial and public sectors are not sufficient. Cybersecurity is a global issue, not only affecting the security of ordinary citizens, small and large businesses, but also impacting on national security. It is therefore already essential to train a sufficient number of skilled professionals in cybersecurity management and data protection.
Mykolas Romeris University (MRU), together with 35 partners from 14 countries, is launching the €20 million European Union (EU)-funded Digital4Security project. The partners will collectively develop and launch a new innovative, market-oriented and multicultural European Master's degree programme in Cybersecurity, which will provide in-depth cybersecurity management, regulatory compliance and technical knowledge and competences. The project is planned to run for four years.
Noting that MRU has been running a Master's level "Cyber Security Management" study programme for a number of years now, the Digital4Security project leader from MRU side, the Dean of the Faculty of Public Management and Business, Prof. Dr. Darius Štitilis, is convinced that participation in this project will help the University to move to an even higher level of cyber security studies, in the context of both the quality of studies, social partnerships, and innovative methods of studies. According to Prof. Dr. D. Štitilis, in the field of research, the partnership with the other project partners will undoubtedly enable an even deeper insight into the digital transformation and cyber security issues.
Digital4Security is an innovative European Master's degree programme in Cyber Security Management and Data Governance, which aims to provide the essential cyber security management, regulatory and technical skills needed to tackle existing and emerging cyber security threats. This project aims to strengthen the resilience of European industrial sectors to cyber-attacks, safeguard economic prosperity and enhance long-term competitiveness and growth," says Darius Štitilis, Dean of the MRU Faculty of Public Management and Business.
The mission of Digital4Security is to be adaptable and responsive to market and industry needs, with an emphasis on continuous development to effectively address current and future cyber security threats. The project will help European businesses to mitigate security risks, develop robust protection measures and expertly manage cyber incidents. In addition, Digital4Security meets the objectives of the Digital Europe programme, as many graduates will be able to enter the cybersecurity sector immediately after their studies.
