March 27th, 2017, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Bachelor's Degree students of the "Translation and Editing" and "English for Specific Purposes and the 2nd Foreign Language" programme presented their project, "Norway - the World's Happiest Country."
MRU students made presentations at the Molėtai and the Molėtų region Alanta gymnasiums.
In the 2017 World Happiness Index, Norway is named as the most happiest country in the world.
MRU students tried to find out what makes Norwegians so happy.
It turns out that the main factor is strong community ties in society and not necessarily their high standard of living.
MRU students spent time with pupils and discussed Norway's history, geography, way of life, traditions and language. There was a chance for pupils to taste cheese while trying out cheese slicer, which slices very thin pieces of cheese.
Pupils learned a few Norwegian phrases such as how to say hi and ask how is it going. They also had a chance to sing a Norwegian song.
With this project, MRU students showed that a foreign language opens the door to other cultures and countries. That is why their knowledge is such a valuable commodity.
MRU Humanities Institute Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sigita Rackevičienė accompanied the MRU students and helped them prepare presentations for the project.
