June 9th-10th, 2023, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) students participated in the European Youth Event (EYE) 2023, which was organized by the European Parliament (EP) in Strasbourg. More than a thousand youth from Europe, including MRU students, shared their ideas on how to create a united European Union (EU) with the cooperation of youth, experts and the EP.

MRU Law and International Relations 2nd-year student Karina Tamašauskaitė and Psychology 2nd-year student Edvinas Ščukinas represented the University at the event. They had the opportunity to gain invaluable experience and see first-hand the work of parliament members. Students participated in discussions, exchanged opinions and forged ties with youth activists, experts and decision-makers from other countries.

Events of "EYE 2023" were held at the European Parliament and in the nearby EYE Activities Town center. There were debates and interactive seminars organized at the EP. The discussion centered on issues of pressing concern for EU youth. Concerts, seminars, a live library were all held at the EYE Activities Town center. Students also had the opportunity to learn more about working in EU institutions, career possibilities in the United Nations (UN) and other international organizations.

The EYE (European Youth Event) brings together at the European Parliament in Strasbourg and online thousands of young people from all over the European Union and the world, to share and shape their ideas on Europe’s future.

It is a unique opportunity for youth, aged 16-30 years old,  to interact, motivate one another and exchange their opinions with experts, activists, and decision-makers right in the heart of European democracy.

There are plans to publish the most popular "EYE 2023" ideas that were discussed in a Youth Idea Report that should be presented this fall to EP members in Brussels.
