Dec. 13th, 2016, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) student, rower and Olympic 2016 champion Mindaugas Griškonis was recognised as one of 2016's Outstanding Athletes at an Awards ceremony in Kaunas hosted by Lithuania's Student Sports Association (LSSA). The event was held at the Vytautas Magnus University (VDU) in Kaunas. Griškonis won a silver medal in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro along with his rowing partner Saulius Ritter. He is a student in MRU's Faculty of Politics and Management. Athletes were congratulated during the Awards Ceremony by Department of Physical Education and Sports of Lithuania Director Edis Urbanavičius and LSSA Head Česlovas Garbaliauskas. Griškonis is a student in MRU's Faculty of Politics and Management.
