June 22nd-July 5th, 2023, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Prof. Paulo Pereira, Head of the MRU's Environmental Management Research LAB, presented a series of seminars and lectures at China's Beijing Normal University.

"I give seminars on the environment and ecosystem services," said Prof. Pereira, who has been interviewed by international media including the Washington Post about the effects of the War on Ukraine's environment.

For the last year, Prof. Pereira, along with a team of international researchers, has been investigating the effects of Russia's War on soil, air and the environment in Ukraine.

Before departing for China, he said that he will most likely discuss the effects of the War on the environment with students during his seminars in China.

"I think that I will talk about the War - not in an aggressive manner, but we will talk about it," he added.

The February 2023 issue of Elsevier's "Ecosystem Services“ listed Prof. Pereira as one of the most prolific authors in ecosystem services research. He was among 163 most prolific authors on the long list.

The "Elsevier“ publication notes that authors publishing in the field of ecosystem services went up in the last decade from 12,795 to 91,051. The number of articles that were published increased from 4,948 to 33,973.

Prof. Pereira is the only researcher cited by Elsevier from Lithuania and he is the only one from the Baltics.
