MRU Part of Sport Project with EU Partners
Mykolas Romeris University (MRU,) with partners, is cooperating on the Erasmus KA2 Sports project focused on skills need by sports administrators working in paid and voluntary roles, who have a crucial role in the delivery of sport. The 30-month project, which started in Sept. 2015, is titled, "From Strategy to Action: Supporting the Professionalisation of Sport Organisations Through the Definition of Work-based Competencies and the Development of Fit-for-purpose Training for Sport Administrators" (S2A). The main expectations of the S2A project are responding to the education and employment challenges facing the Sports and Physical Activity sector, aligned with EU policies and tools. The overall goal will be to change and modernise existing training programmes, to equip those working or volunteering as sport administrators with the right skills. In this way it will contribute to building the capacity and effectiveness of sport organisations across Europe. The Project is led by the European Observatorie of Sport and Employment (EOSE). It brings together various partners including 8 national organisations and 4 pan-European Associations from 10 different European countries. Partners of the project include: Bulgaria's National Sport Academy (NSA); Finland's Sport Institute of Finland; Belgium's University Catholique de Louvain (UCL); Italy's University of Cassino and Southern Lazio (UNICAS); the U.K.'s University of Chester, and MRU. At MRU, Prof. Vilma Čingienė is the representative for the University in the partner network. The project is funded by the European Commission, under Erasmus+, and is being implemented from Sept. 1st, 2015, to Feb. 28th, 2018.
