March 8th, 16 – 17:30 hrs., in MRU‘s I-414 aud., (Ateities St. 20), the MRU Library is organizing the presentation of Ramunės Sakalauskaitė‘s book, „Life As it Was“ (Gyvenimas koks jis buvo) detailing the life of the late Mons. Father Kazimieras Vasiliauskas. The event is organized to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Mons. Vasiliauskas, who was born April 9th, 1922. The event will be moderated by journalist, diplomat and MRU Rector‘s adviser Violeta Gaižauskaitė.

Mons. Vasiliauskas – the first pastor of the reestablished Vilnius Cathedral Basilica and its long-time head is a former political prisoner and Vilnius honorary citizen. He was very close to the MRU academic and cultural community and much loved by students.

Judging by the fact that Mons. Vasiliauskas’ activities had a very important impact on the development of the state, his personality testifies to man's moral resilience, strong worldview, service to the country and its people. For these reasons, the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, emphasizing that the memory of Monsignor is a symbol of compassion and humanity, declared 2022 the Year of Remembrance of Kazimieras Vasiliauskas.

Author and journalist Ramunė Sakalauskaitė will participate in presenting her book along with publicist Father Julius Sasnauskas, OFM from the Bernardine Order and MRU Assoc. Prof. Povilas Aleksandravičius.
