Friday, Jan. 27th, 2023, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Rector Prof. Inga Žalėnienė and Law School Dean Prof. Lyra Jakulevičienė awarded 86 Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree diplomas to graduates of MRU’s Law School.
About half of those graduating or 40 graduates completed the Law School’s Bachelor’s Degree programmes.
International students from Cameroon, Nigeria and Ukraine completed studies in Master’s Degree programs. Nigerian graduate Anyanaso Ogechukwu Nneamaka, who completed Master’s Degree studies in International Law said she already had a job in Vilnius. She works for “Western Union.”
During her congratulatory address, MRU Rector Prof. Žalėnienė told students they could be proud of what they have achieved.
“I have a hope that you are perfectly equipped for the future,” the Rector told graduates during festive graduation ceremonies on campus.
She said that new technologies, artificial intelligence and other smart instruments are being rapidly integrated into law and other social sciences, and there is even a serious debate whether robots, instead of judges, will decide serious cases.
Rector Žalėnienė also told graduates that completion of studies and a diploma is “just the beginning.” She urged graduates to join MRU’s Alumni network and “to stay connected” not only with each other, but also with MRU.
Law School Dean Prof. Jakulevičienė made an inspiring speech to graduates reminding them of the responsibilities that await as they join the ranks of legal professionals.
Lithuanian Bar Association Chairman Mindaugas Kukaitis was on hand to not only award diplomas to some of the graduates, but also gave a short speech. Other guests from Lithuania’s legal community included: Lithuania’s Attorney General Nida Grunskienė, Lithuania’s Supreme Court Justice Prof. Rima Ažubalytė, Lithuania’s Highest Administrative Court Justice Prof. Rytis Krasauskas, Seimas parliament member Julius Sabatauskas, Seimas parliament Legal Affairs Committee Chairman Stasys Šedbaras, Lithuania’s Customs Dept. Director Darius Žvironas and others.
