Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Environmental Management Research LAB Head Prof. Paulo Pereira and a team of Portuguese researchers have published a book, "Mapping and Forecasting Land Use: The Present and Future of Planning."
The book, published by Elservier, is edited not only by Prof. Pereira but his colleagues from Portugal: Eduardo Gomes (Centre of Geographical Studies, Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning, University of Lisbon, Portugal, and Associated Laboratory TERRA, Lisbon); and Asst. Prof. Jorge Rocha (Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning, researcher, Centre of Geographical Studies, University of Lisbon, Portugal.)
The book is a comprehensive reference on the use of technologies to map land use, focusing on GIS and remote sensing applications and methodologies for land use monitoring. It also addresses topics such as urbanisation, biodiversity loss, climate change, ecosystem services and participatory planning. It offers a multidisciplinary approach and provides opinions and evidence from leading researchers from academic institutions across the globe.
