During the 2017/2018 academic year, MRU university students won 15 gold, 27 silver and 26 bronze medals and placed 4th among 15 institutions of higher education in Lithuania, according to the number of sports medals won. First place went to the Lithuanian Sports University (LSU); 2nd - Vilnius University; 3rd - Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU).
