May 25-26th, 2017, the 1st ASEM Conference on “Women’s Economic Empowerment: Creating Equal Opportunities in the World of Work” was held at Mykolas Romeris University (MRU).
Representatives from about 25 countries participated in the conference. The following countries were represented: Bangladesh, China, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Hungary, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Lao, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Netherlands, Pakistan, Philippines, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland, U.K., Vietnam, and the EU.
The event was co-sponsored by the governments of Japan, Sweden, Romania, Philippines, Vietnam, Croatia, Mongolia and China.
Co-organizers of the ASEM (Asia-Europe Meeting) event included Lithuania's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lithuania's Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour and MRU.
At the initiative of Lithuania, the Conference on Women’s Economic Empowerment will launch Asia – Europe dialogue on empowerment of women and gender equality.
