Law Dean Prof. Jakulevičienė Signed Cooperation Agreement with HR Monitoring Institute

Dec. 8th, 2015, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Law Faculty Dean signed a cooperation agreement with the Human Rights Monitoring Institute's Deputy Director Natalija Bitiukova.

The two sides plan to cooperate in the area of human rights research and organizing workshops.

The agreement was signed right before the commemoration of International Human Rights Day celebrated on Dec. 10th.

Bitiukova noted that this year there have been legal reforms in Lithuania, in the area of human rights especially in children's welfare institutions; changes in criminal process regulation, which provide more guarantees to those who have been the victims of crime; and changes in the arrest process.

Prof. Jakulevičienė is the Head of MRU's Human Rights Laboratory. The Laboratory conducts research in the area of national and international human rights, presents workshops and seminars and conducts analysis of European Human Rights Court (ECHR) applications.

The Laboratory specializes in refugee, migrant legal rights and welfare issues as well as non-discrimination matters.
