Oct. 9th, 2015, Korean Cultural Day, including Korean Alphabet, Hangul Day, were celebrated at Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) in the Rotunda Hall, marking the first anniversary of the King Sejong Institute (KSI) Vilnius.

King Sejong Institute Vilnius Head Lora Tamošiūnienė greeted those gathered.

Four Korean language students recited a poem in Korean. The students were: Urtė Butkutė, Ernesta Druskinytė, Karolina Trepšytė, and Karolina Zakarauskaitė.

Korean musician Ms. Yujin Seong played the traditional Korean instrument, gayageum.

Pupils from area Vilnius schools attended the event and took a liking to mask painting. Others tried the Korean kimchi or other national dishes on offer.

Pupils had the opportunity to try their hand at writing their name in Korean, learn mask painting techniques, learn how to make lanterns and try on traditional Korean folk costumes, Hanbok.

There was a Korean Tourism Photo Exhibition on display. It was brought to Vilnius especially to the event from Warsaw by the Korean Cultural Center based there.

Guests from South Korea, Korean Embassy representatives residing in Warsaw, and King Sejong Institute students, studying Korean, attended the events.

The KSI was established Oct. 10th, 2014 by the Korean King Sejong Institute Foundation, MRU and Korea's Dongseo University (DSU) to promote Korean language and culture in Vilnius and Lithuania.

Free Korean language courses are offered by the KSI on MRU's campus. In addition a variety of lectures are offered each semester dealing with Korea's culture, economy and life.

The Korean language courses and lectures offered by KSI Vilnius are attended by not only MRU students, but also those from other universities in Lithuania.

In 2014 there were 55 students who successfully completed Korean language courses and were awarded certificates. This year there are more than 80 students studying Korean language.
