Meeting participants agreed that in October 2021 the South Korea Week in Vilnius will be held to mark the 30th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Lithuania and South Korea. There are plans to hold joint events of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, MRU and the Vilnius KSI. These include: conferences, exhibitions, and performances by arts ensembles. The events will introduce Lithuanian society to the culture and traditions of Korea.
MRU has been cooperating with South Korean universities for fifteen years and fostering not only academic exchanges, but also preparing and implementing joint studies programmes. In addition, both sides are working to strengthen knowledge of Korean language and culture in Lithuania.
Together with Dongseo University (South Korea), MRU in 2014 established the King Sejong Institute Vilnius, which was the first such Institute in Northern Europe at the time. At the Vilnius KSI it is possible to study Korean language and to become more closely acquainted with the culture, history and traditions of Korea. In 2018, KSI Vilnius was recognized as one of the best institutes in the world and received a prestigious award in South Korea.
