Intl Discussion: Trends in Refugee Rights Protection Sept. 27th

Sept. 27th, 2019, at the MRU LAB (Didlaukio g. 55), an international discussion, "Recent Trends in Refugee Rights Protection and Lithuania's Contribution" was held.

The conference language was Lithuanian with translation to English.

The Conference brought together experts from national and municipal authorities, academia to discuss the main legal trends in the legal protection of refugees in the European Union 20 years after the Tampere Agreement: Does EU law provide an effective solution to the problems of asylum seekers?

In addition, there was discussion on what has changed in the years since the Global Compact for Refugees was adopted and what is the Lithuanian contribution at the local, national and regional levels.

The discussion united Lithuanian municipalities, governmental and non-governmental organizations working with refugees, and refugees themselves, to discuss various existing and new opportunities to contribute to the implementation of this agreement.

The meeting also presented products developed during the project "INSPIRED - Innovative Solutions for Practicality and Impactin Refugee and Migration Oriented Education" for public education on refugees and the involvement of young people in refugee issues in Lithuania and Europe.
