July 21st, 2016, Interior Minister Tomas Žilinskas and Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Rector Assoc. Prof. Algirdas Monkevičius signed an agreement for creation of a Public Management Competencies Network. It will seek to bring together the most talented public management specialists: researchers and hands on specialists. Minister Žilinskas said by establishing the network, there will be an effort to unite the efforts of public employees and academics. Theory and practice will be joined so that the latest research would be used in Lithuania's public sector management. The founders of the network include the Interior Ministry of Lithuania (VRM) and MRU, but the network is open to other members also. "We hope that other Lithuanian institutions of higher education, government and municipal institutions will join the network, noted Minister Žilinskas. "I think that the potential of Lithuanian specialists is huge so we have to unite our efforts to more effectively make use of this," he noted.
