May 13th, 2015, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Alumna dr. Loreta Tauginienė returned from Sweden's Uppsala University. She was recognized there for her PhD thesis, "Social Responsibility in the Management of University Research Performance."
Dr. Tauginienė attended a conference and presented her PhD research results to the Baltic University Programme (BUP) network community.
She was awarded the BUP's honorary recognition award and received an invitation to present her research at a BUP-teachers' conference.
During the 2014 winter, BUP announced a competition for the 1st BUP PhD award. There were 23 applicants from 8 countries representing 16 universities.
The BUP is a network of about 225 universities and other institutes of higher learning located throughout the Baltic Sea region. The network is coordinated by the Baltic University Programme Secretariat a part of Uppsala Centre for Sustainable Development (Uppsala CSD) at Uppsala University, Sweden.
The Programme focuses on questions of sustainable development, environmental protection, and democracy in the Baltic Sea region.
The goal is to support the key role that universities play in a democratic, peaceful and sustainable development. This is achieved by developing university courses, and by participation in projects in cooperation with authorities, municipalities and others.
