March 27th, 2013, Education and Science Minister Prof. Dainius Pavalkis presented the European Commission's ECTS Label badge to MRU Rector Prof. Alkyds Pumputis. MRU joined the ranks of only 64 institutions with such recognition.
The festive ceremony took place at the Seimas during a confererence, "Europe's Citizen."
The ECTS Label badge was awarded by Minister Pavalkis along with the Education Exchange Support Fund's Director Daiva Šutinytė. MRU Education Vice-Rector Assoc. Prof. Giedrius Viliūnas attended the ceremony along with Academic Affairs senior manager Liana Petronytė and MRU Philosophy Dept. Prof. Bronislavas Kuzmickas.
"This Label is a sign of recognition of an institution that fosters internationality," said the Education Exchange Support Fund's Director Šutinytė.
"In Europe there are only 64 institutions of higher education that have such a prestigious label, that is why we sincerely congratulate Mykolas Romeris University on this ECTS Label," she added.
MRU Rector Prof. Pumputis, in receiving the Label, noted that although it is not truly fully recognized in Lithuania, said it opens doors for the University in Europe and the world. It is one of the most important signs attesting to a high quality of studies, he said.
