Dr. Lamers Hearings: Heading for the London Summit – May 28th
May 28th, 2019, 11:20 a.m.-12:50 p.m. in MRU's I-414 aud., the annual Dr. Karl Lamers NATO Hearings will be held. The topic of discussion is: "NATO Heading for the London Summit: What Lay in Store?" The discussion will be conducted in English. MRU students and faculty, as well as Erasmus students, are invited to attend and enjoy public discussion of experts in the field of defence and international security. The keynote speaker will be Prof. Dr. Karl A. Lamers, a member of the Bundestag's Defense Committee and the former President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. He is a renowned German lawmaker with decades of high-level experience in transatlantic security issues. The panel of commentators will include: Raimondas Karoblis, Lithuanian Defense Minister, former Lithuanian Ambassador to EU, possessing in-depth knowledge of NATO issues accumulated through many years of involvement in diplomatic service and security issues. Gediminas Kirkilas, Vice Speaker of the Lithuanian Seimas, former Prime Minister and former Defense Minister, for decades closely involved in shaping Lithuania’s security and defense policy. Andrius Kubilius, Member of Lithuanian Seimas, former Lithuanian Prime Minister, with long term experience in international and security policy making, now deeply involved in shaping EU Eastern Neighborhood strategy, especially what concerns Ukraine. Linas Kojala, Head of Vilnius-based Eastern Europe Research Center, formerly a Fulbright Fellow at Davis Center, Harvard University, where he continues as a non-resident expert. Moderator of the Hearings traditionally is Mykolas Romeris University Assoc. Prof. Dr. Virgis Valentinavičius, Dean of the Institute of Communication. All invited.
