Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) together with the Stichting Bob Wessels Insolvency Law Collection (BWILC) organised the 6th Doctoral Seminar and the 2nd International CERIL Conference with the international academic network Conference on European Restructuring and Insolvency Law (CERIL). The events, which took place from 16-18 April, brought together academics, legal practitioners and PhD students to analyse key issues in insolvency and restructuring law.
The 6th BWILC Doctoral Seminar provided an opportunity for PhD students to share experiences and make valuable contacts within the European and international insolvency law community. Participants discussed their research ideas with colleagues and experienced professors.
The 2nd CERIL International Conference provided an opportunity to discuss in detail the implementation of the Preventative Restructuring Directive (2019/1023) and its impact across the EU. The conference also explored other issues: what has been transposed from the Preventative Restructuring Directive by non-EU European countries? What elements have not been implemented? How does the legal framework for preventive restructuring work in times of economic and geopolitical uncertainty?
Professor Reinout Vriesendorp, Chairman of CERIL and BWILC, welcomed the turnout and the success of the events.
According to Professor Virginijus Bite, Director of the Institute of Private Law at MRU, the participation of PhD students and researchers in the events contributed to increasing the internationalisation of science, establishing new partnerships and disseminating ideas.
MRU would like to thank all participants, organisers and sponsors for their valuable contribution to these rich academic events.
