On January 30th, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) hosted a solemn graduation ceremony for the Law School, where bachelor's and master's diplomas were awarded to 104 graduates, including 13 Ukrainian students, marking the completion of their higher education.
The ceremony was opened by the MRU girls' choir, performing "Gaudeamus igitur," which added a ceremonial and emotional atmosphere to the event.
MRU Vice-Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saulius Spurga congratulated the graduates and wished them creativity, a thirst for knowledge, and success in their careers.
The Dean of the Law School, Prof. Dr. Lyra Jakulevičienė, emphasized the importance of lifelong learning for both professional and personal development. She noted that while today's world places great emphasis on success, we should not underestimate the value of failure. Failures are crucial for strengthening resilience, preparing for greater challenges, and learning to navigate complex situations. She encouraged graduates to view setbacks as learning opportunities and to keep moving forward, as they are already stronger. She also urged them to be courageous, especially when defending people, truth, and justice, highlighting that legal professionals are entrusted with this special privilege of advocacy.
During the ceremony, the Kazimieras Motieka Foundation Award for the best dissertation of 2023–2024 was presented. Dr. Tomas Marozas received the monetary award for his outstanding dissertation, which was presented by Mantas Juozaitis, partner and attorney at "Motieka ir Audzevičius."
Additionally, Nadiia Startsun was recognized for the best master's thesis in corporate law, an award established by the Law School’s social partner, CITCO Mercator. The prize was presented by the company's director, Chris Butler.
A Leadership Diploma was also awarded to Heb-Horster Fabian, a master's student from Switzerland in the Law, Technology, and Business program.
On behalf of social partners, Julius Sabatauskas, Chairman of the Legal Affairs Committee of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, delivered a congratulatory speech, wishing the graduates strength, success, and perseverance in pursuing their dreams.
The event was attended by numerous distinguished guests, including Vice-minister of Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania Alicija Ščerbaitė, Deputy Prosecutor General Gintas Ivanauskas, Head of the Labour Law Division of the SLI Šarūnas Orlavičius, Chairman of the Criminal Cases Division of the Vilnius Regional Court Mindaugas Povilanskas, Deputy Director of the Special Investigation Service (STT) Egidijus Radzevičius and other esteemed guests.
