The Focus 8 student association invites young photographers to participate in its first exhibition dedicated to migration in Europe! We are looking for young (under 30) amateur photographers eager to share their work.

About Us:
Focus 8 was founded by Master’s students in Cultural Policy and Management in Europe at Université Paris 8 Vincennes – Saint-Denis. Our goal is to provide a platform for socially engaged artists and raise awareness of contemporary European challenges. More information here.

About the Exhibition:
We are organizing a photo exhibition about migration in France and the Mediterranean Balkans (Bulgaria and Greece) – key gateways to Europe.

We invite submissions of photographs exploring:

• Migratory journeys, exile, border crossings;
• The social, economic, and political dimensions of migration;
• Stories of life, resistance, and resilience.

A variety of photographic styles are welcome – from documentary to artistic or conceptual works.

Exhibition Venues:

• France: Université Paris 8 (Seine-Saint-Denis)
• Bulgaria: New Bulgarian University (Sofia)
• Greece: University of the Aegean

The exhibition will include workshops for local residents, combining photography, writing, and other disciplines. After the exhibitions, the works and workshop materials will be published online.

Who Can Apply?

• Amateur photographers of any nationality under 30 years old.
• You may submit 1 to 5 original photographs (printable in 30×40 cm format).

How to Apply:
Send the following by April 13, 2025, 11:59 PM to focus8.association@gmail.com with the subject line Last Name First Name _ Focus 8 Exhibition:

• 1 to 5 photographs,
• Application file including: full name, age, email, phone number, and a short description of your works (maximum 300 words).

Selection:
The jury will consist of a Focus 8 member, a photographer, and a social sciences scholar. Unselected files will be deleted.

Selected photographers will receive:

• Coverage of printing and framing costs;
• Insurance for artworks;
• Social media promotion;
• Vernissage organization.

Important Dates:

• February 11: Call opens
• April 13: Submission deadline
• April 19: Jury deliberation
• April 21: Results announcement
