Oct. 14-15th, 2019, Britain's BBC Storyworks film crew, preparing a documentary about universities called "Aiming HIgher," was at Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) to film and interview Rector Prof. Inga Žalėnienė and other university academics, professors.
The documentary is expected to air in November. MRU is one of 30 universities featured in the documentary, but the only one from the Baltics.
MRU Rector Žalėnienė said the 2015 United Nations approved Sustainable Development Implementation strategy devotes much attention to attracting university researchers in meeting goals.
"International academic communities are uniting and actively taking a leadership position seeking to resolve the challenges of a global society," she said.
The BBC Storyworks film crew interviewed not only Rector Inga Žalėnienė, but also Public Administration Institute Prof. Paulo Alexandre da Silva Pereira and MRU Law School's International and European Union Law Institute Prof. Justinas Žilinskas.
The International Association of Universities (IAU) along with BBC Worldwide "StoryWorks" unit is preparing the documentary series, "Aiming Higher." The BBC Storyworks film crew will be visiting 30 different universities including MRU.
The documentary aims to reveal how universities are seeking to unite internationality, technologies, leadership and sustainable development and to find out what is their experience in these areas.
The film at MRU is produced by BBC's Storyworks Commercial Productions.
