ESN Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Vilnius President Ugnė Jurgelevičiūtė is preparing to welcome a new crop of international students at MRU from Aug. 28th, 2017.
With more than a dozen MRU student mentors, Jurgelevičiūtė is responsible for coordinating events as well as the welcome of new exchange and Erasmus+ students on campus.
She speaks with enthusiasm about her semester at Taiwan's National Chengchi University (NCCU) in Taipei, where she spent last semester. She immersed herself in studies relating to international relations and Czech and Polish languages.
She said that the contrasts and differences between Taipei and Vilnius were evident. Jurgelevičiūtė found it interesting that yogurt, cheese and milk, which are cheap in Lithuania are costly in Taipei. She said several yogurts may set one back about 5 Euros.
Jurgelevičiūtė, majoring in Public Policy and Management, grew to like tea and the local Taipei favourite, "Milk Bubble Tea."
"I'm still full of experiences and memories of the trip," she said.
She said MRU students should take advantage of studies abroad as it is an opportunity to get to know a different culture, as well as to deepen knowledge of English.
Meanwhile, she is busy preparing to welcome almost 200 international exchange students that will begin their studies next week at MRU.
We will go to Trakai and Druskininkai and host a variety of events, she said. MRU's International Dinner and Erasmus Got Talent are two popular events organized by ESN MRU in conjunction with MRU's International Office.
ESN MRU has never organized as many events as are planned this fall semester, she added.
