October 22nd, an international conference devoted to mark the upcoming Constitution Day in Lithuania was held. The conference, “Challenges in the Implementation of the Constitutional Principle of the Rule of Law,” was held at the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and organized in part by Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Law School, Seimas, Constitutional Court, and Lithuania’s Bar Association.
The Conference was held just days before Constitution Day is celebrated in Lithuania on Oct. 25th.
Conference participants discussed Constitutional Court challenges when trying to resolve governmental institution disputes and about the possibility to prevent governmental conflicts in a rule of law state.
President of the Constitutional Court, and MRU Prof. Dr. Danutė Jočienė draws attention to the fact that the closely related constitutional principles of the rule of law and the division of powers are the starting point for assessing the relations between state authorities and the disputes arising from them.
