Information about the Master’s degree programme: specialization in Education and Science Policy and Management, 1.5 years (90 credits), Public Administration programme. MRU developed and approved the Master’s degree programme in Public Administration (MA) and registered it with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania (MoEYS) by Order No 560 of 23 April 1999 and accredited it by Order No ISAK-616 of 15 April 2005. On the basis of the international external evaluation of this programme carried out by AHPGS in 2013 (recommending accreditation for 6 years), SKVC accredited this programme for a period of 6 years (Order No SV6-43 of 11 June 2013). The specialisation in Education and Science Policy and Management (ESPM) of this programme was approved by the MRU Senate Resolution No 1SN-38 of 28 May 2018. In the last four years, as of 2019, 62 students have enrolled in the specialisation.
On 18 June 2019, the MRU Senate approved the Master of Public Administration study programme in English by Resolution No. 1 SN-32. 1 March 2023. Order No. SV6-10 of the Centre for Quality Assessment of Studies (CQAS) accredits the Public Administration programme and its specialisation until 1 March 2030. The updated curriculum and description of the specialisation of the study programme were approved on 14 June 2023. Senate Resolution No 1SN-30.
Expected results of the Master’s study programme: the aim of the study programme is to train specialists in education and science policy and management at all levels, education and science policy analysts, and managers of education and science institutions, enabling them to apply the acquired knowledge and understanding in policy formulation, decision-making and policy implementation processes, in managerial, analytical, analytical, expert, consultancy and other activities in Lithuania, foreign countries, the European Union and institutions of other international organisations. This is in line with the objective set out in the description of the competition procedure for the implementation of Master’s degree programmes for teaching staff. All of the expected learning outcomes of the study programme are related to the competences specified in the Tender Procedure for the Implementation of Masters Degree Programmes for Teaching Personnel Partners, which are recommended to be developed in the course of future studies. The ways and methods of assessing the learning outcomes are described in the descriptions of the programme of study and of the individual study subjects.
All graduates of the Master’s degree programme in Education and Science Policy and Management at the VA will be eligible for admission to the third cycle of studies. The qualification will provide graduates with broader opportunities for integration into the labour market and for personal career development.
Graduates of the programme will be able to work as managers, experts, consultants, mentors, project managers in national and international educational institutions, municipal departments or public sector units responsible for the formulation and implementation of education policy objectives.
