Let's embrace open access and advance open science. The internet and open access make it possible for students and the public to benefit from the fruits of researchers' work extremely quickly and for free. Missing the latest books? Check out OAPEN first There are even more books here than in the DOAB (Directory of Open Access Books) There are more than 20 books on open access alone. However, it is amazing that, for example, Pinfield's 2024 book „Achieving Global Open Access“ can be simply downloaded without having to pay 60 euros. And if you open the book in the Edge browser, you can use the "Read aloud" function to listen to the book while driving or jogging.
Open Access is not just about books, it's about millions of articles. Missing the latest articles? First check the DOAJ (Directory of Open Acess Journals). Here you will find over 10 million scientific articles in different languages. Interested not only in open access but also in open science? See what you can find on this topic on CORE, one of the largest open access repositories. As of 2018, you will find over 4,000 articles on Open Science here.
It's great to see our university fully supporting open access. And don't forget that by making your work open to the public, you are contributing to open access and the common good.
